Profound and philosophical thoughts Miriam. I am pondering over “Duty can build castles and shelters, also prison for spirit and soul.” Though duty and love are two separate entities yet you have clubbed them together in a beautiful way. Thank you for this thought-provoking poem.
Thank you, Balroop, for your warm and thoughtful comment. I do understand why you pondered that part of one stanza. Was hesitant myself but it needed to be. Together we could probably come up with many examples. I am so glad you liked it. 🙂
Adrienne, so nice to see you and thank you for your comment. I see your point clearly but
still woder, is it really duty if you love fully? Hard work at times….but duty.

I would offer that love is eternal, and it takes quite a lot of it to leave a stagnant situation out of love for oneself, granting the other the freedom to grow in other ways, with loving heart. We never know, maybe being their catalyst is no longer our job.
Thank you for your interesting comment, Bela. Love is indeed eternal and the
creator of all. It can bring joy above imagination and also pain unknown.
Love comes in many forms may we open our hearts.
Wow! Miriam, this is a terrific exploration of the duality of duty and love; the former should never bind the latter and if there is only duty it is indeed ‘life without glory for both’. Your words dance as free as your profound themes, a reminder of the importance of love and it’s incredible potential if one dares to follow it, to ‘its breathtaking dance and trails.’ Cheers to that courage, to your beautiful nudge to us all! Wishing you a very special weekend, my friend! Xx ❤️🌺
Your comment is wonderful, Annika, as it spreads sun and understanding on my words. Thank you. Your words dance so free and I am sure you will have the courage to spread a loving smile to people you meet.
Hope your weekend was happy and filled with nice moments. 💕🦋🌻.
We all find our answers, I believe that love in a relationship must be of unreserved love from both partners. Duty to stay would have to be honestly declared as trust is imperative.
The poem means to cover love in other settings too. Some of these are duty of care…..we can all think of many.

Yet sometimes even in a loving relationship there are seasons when only duty will carry us through.

Why? Duty + love can mean a lack of equality achieved in a relationship
