Pinprick of Blue
Each morning I stand for a while in awe,
in front of the windows facing East.
I drink into my being the wonder of Sun’s rise;
Gradually the beauty colours my inner Self.
As the sun dramatically but calmly spreads its rays
filling the sky in glorious hues,
Colours that give praise
superior to the flight of words.
How lucky I am to share this rhythmic splendour
as Earth and sun dance.
I have seen it over oceans, over mountains
Over forests and fields,
over rooftops in hamlets and towns.
I still dream of seeing
the sun rise over desert dunes.
And yet, from Mars, our planet is but a pinprick,
pale blue , they say.
I would be homesick.
Simply loving Earth too much.

Your poem makes us realise that we are just a speck in the bigger picture.
The opening paragraph and your picture bring about an absolute meditative imagery Miriam. 💙

Thank you for your lovely comment, Radhika. You are so right, Earth is but a speck in Cosmos and we are little star specks on Earth. The sun is a bigger speck. 😊.
Meditative is what I feel whilst taking in the sunrise. It is a good feeling in the morning.

Beautiful poem Miriam. I love how it evokes so much love for earth, sunrises, and nature in general. It reminds me I haven’t been savoring and appreciating nature as much lately.

Thank you, Brad. It gladdens me deeply that my poem has brought renewed
love and appreciation for nature and all beauty it gifts us – every day.
And we are nature too, so let us not give up on our strong bonds.

Yes, good reminder about being part of nature. Many of our problem stem from not feeling and living per that connection.

A beautiful poem. It gave me a sense of peace. And a realization that every little bit of nature on this gorgeous earth that I can enjoy during this pandemic, is to be appreciated. I’m grateful for every new sunrise. We might be just a speck in the universe, but each of our specks are gloriously special. Thank you for your inspiration. 💕

and thank you for your beautiful and inspired comment, Lesley. Yes, every
little bit of nature provides inspiration and rises the spirit. During the pandemic it is brought to the forefront more than ever.
It is a go to, just like a child calls for her / his mother.
We are all gloriously special, as you say, so may we all take great care.

“Beauty colors my inner self”… just one line evokes a thousand feelings Miriam. I could relate to those colors, I became a part of that beauty. Whenever I would look at the colors of sky, I would remember your lovely thoughts dear friend. You possess a beautiful soul.

Wow! Miriam, your absolute adoration and emotion of the sunrise is conveyed with such sheer uplifting joy I feel myself taking flight at the sight of such glory. Your words teach me to stop, truly take in the morning awakening of the sun and let its magic fill my soul – just as you do here. As always your poem goes one step further, this time out of our gravitational field to Mars – yes, the wonder of the planet but I too would miss Earth so much!

Thank you, Annika, for your appreciative and beautiful comment. I am so
very glad that you also will take the time to fill yourself with wonder before the
business of the day takes its space.
Yes, I seem to end up in space somewhere quite frequently before somehow
return. I think I let the scientists sort out what this far away planet wants to share.
Meanwhile we try to learn to live in peace with Earth.

I love your work of praise for our earth and our sun which greets us from the east each day. You have expressed how, around this earth, we humans are longing to feel closer to nature and to each other. Many celebrated the recent successful landing on mars of the NASA robot craft and seeing engineers together elbow bumping with masks on. I know I did! We long for more reasons to be together and to celebrate. How ironic. How wonderful. Your poem captures so much of these emotions. Thanks again.

Your comment is wonderful and I am happy to meet another kindred spirit.
Yes, closer to nature and closer to each other, it is the only way to live fully.
In my humble opinion. You do mention Mars and the celebration at NASA,
yes, I celebrated with them and felt proud of their success. Humans achieve good things when they work together.
Who knows what the future holds, but dreams belong to us all.
Thank you so much for your beautiful words.

“How lucky I am to share this rhythmic splendour as Earth and sun dance.” I agree! It’s funny that as much as I like to escape into science fiction about exploring other planets, if I were to leave, I would be homesick for Mother Earth. She must know my mental escapes are just pretend.

Your comment delights me this morning, than you Jo-Anna.
I do think you also would be ‘home-sick’ for Earth if you left but science fiction
might almost be like children playing fantasy games. They always come back. 😊.

Yes! That’s a comforting point about children playing fantasy games. We can imagine all sorts of adventures in stories, books, movies, and songs, but I’m thankful to go to sleep and wake up in my own bed. There’s no place like home.
