Silence Spoke
Lightly the white fluffy flakes were falling
Outside my patio doors,
I opened and stepped out
Stood there for a while.
The soft snowflakes melted on my face;
Cold but exhilarating.
Silence, mystic silence prevailed,
yet it spoke.
Spoke in quiet tones, of peace.
Nature has so many sounds,
I love them all;
The patter of light rain, the storms,
the breeze through the trees;
Whispers and roars show life on Earth
its indomitable resonance and tenacity.
Now I feel and hear the silence
of pure white snow whirling from the sky,
I cherish the hush,
I cherish the wisdom of old.

Miriam, a wonderful and gentle poem that like your fluffy snowflakes is falling with wonder upon my soul, letting hush descend upon the busyness of mind and emotions! Ahh … to hear the silence is a gift indeed and you convey the magic of this moment with beauty and lyricism of your words! May the power of nature allow us equally to develop ‘indomitable resonance and tenacity’! Thank you for sharing this moment with us, for letting us step outside your patio with you to experience this epiphany! hugs xx

Hi Miriam, The word and the concept of “silence” has been surfacing in my radar recently. I suspect only someone who has experienced snow can truly understand how silence speaks. Your beautiful words capture this well. Especially “Now I feel and hear hear the silence….”. And I also cherish the hush. Wow. Beautiful, Miriam!❤️
