DIGNIFIED
I saw him again this morning
Coming out from his home with it’s shiny black door
A little shopping bag in his hand.
He looks stately this man, dressed with care,
Tall and proud he carries his years.
At times his wife will come, she looks frail
but so very loved.
Together they give warmth to the neighbourhood
make people behave more dignified.
On returning with his bag full, he is often stopped,
so many want to say hello and how are you and more.
Have wondered if I should cross the expanse
walk the road and say hi to the man and his wife.
Do you think they would like to come for tea
with scones and clotted cream.

Thank you for your lovely comment. I can’t but love people like these. They
give by just being.
The flowers I must admit are from yesterday’s shopping spree. I put them on, just because. 😊🌻.

Robbie, you are so right, some people just have that calm and caring presence, it is a blessing.
Contrary, angry people can spread unease around them.
Thank you for beautiful comment?

And what a delightful comment, Jaqui. I really appreciate you finding the
characterisation good. You know how it is, we study and are taken with
many charachters but how to convey them fully can be tricky.😊.
Thank you.

You are familiar with the saying, ‘nothing ventured, nothing gained?’ I would totally extend myself in this case. You may be pleasantly surprised! 💞

Yes, I am familiar with the saying and found it true. Mostly in a positive way although cultures vary so you can get surprised. 😊.
However, I will do this now when spring is here and people are more outside.
Gives you natural opportunities.

Thank you, Balroop, for your kind comment. To me there was a big reason though, positive spirit, kindness in dealings with others. Yes, that attracts me.
I will find a way to talk as we finally are getting sun and warmer whether which means I can do a little gardening in the front.
Gardening in England always makes people talk.

As they spread their warmth and love to you and your neighbours through their caring and dignified presence, so you let us share the magic moment through your poem here. The everyday humanity and love a precious gem in our lives! As for inviting them over … what are you waiting for?! 😀 Scones and clotted cream, you say … my favourite! At this rate you’ll have the whole of your WP friends over as well! Xx 😀🌺

You remind me Miriam, on how a person’s life is not just this moment in time. This gentleman and his wife have already lived a full life and carry a history with them. I would love to hear their stories. Possibly with a cup of tea and scones. Beautiful poem!

Erica, thank you for such a beautiful comment. I felt also that they carried a
rich history with them and that they also had a strong love through those years. I hope for the chance to sit down and talk some time soon.

Our neighbor two doors down on the left used to come out and talk to us every day. They had Christmas party every year. Unfortunately they passed away two years apart. New neighbors moved in and just kept everything to themselves. We need more friendly neighbors.
Go ahead and invite them over for tea and scones, Miriam. You may be surprised. A beautiful post.

” Love Beacons” . That is so apt and I will use it in the future.
