  9. What a great way to start the morning of a busy day. I will go outside and listen to the symphony before I go on with my tasks. And hopefully I will take some of this peace with me.

  10. What a beautiful, inspirational, and soothing poem, Miriam. It’s up to us to find our path and listen to our song that guides us. And as much as future planning is necessary sometimes, living in the here and now is essential. That is the motto my family lives by ever since my daughter’s diagnosis in 2012. Thank you for this lovely read to begin my weekend. 🌷😊

    • Lauren, thank you for this wonderful response, I am so glad the words gave you some solace. Your song is there, you will hear it. As you say, we need planning in our day to day running of our lives but you learnt the hard way how important living here and now is. Those wake up calls are often what stops us and we see a new reality. 🤗

      is taken on the moors between Lancashire and Yorkshire. The scents there
      are indeed wondrous.

  12. This is a wise poem, Miriam, a bit sad but also joyous. I hear regret in some lines, hope in others, a look to the future but a remembrance of the past. I’ve had an odd week and you gave me much to think about. Our place in this world is tenuous and we walk it more surely with someone by our side. Your photo reflects much the same idea – a tree nearly dead, a stream burbling with life, two people on a path through a gently colored hillside. You might try to paint an interpretation of the photo. A great way to begin the day – thank you.

Miriam, a poem of intense serenity (if that is not a contraction!) and wisdom as through the gift of the falling birch tree leaf it you reminds you and us of the transient nature of our existence. Through your morning musings you beautifully extoll us to enjoy the moment by living ‘here and now’. I love how you see the whole of life as one of still learning and I feel it is a learning that enthralls you every day. Astonishing and wonderful poem – a joy to read and leaves me with much to ponder! 🍁🌺

  25. Annika, such a beautiful response. Intense serenity sounds good to me. 😊 .
    You have picked up on the birch leaf and funnily that leaf fell as I was writing
    and enabled me to finish the poem. Before then I felt something was missing.

    I have spent too much time in the past living forward and have for some years totally turned to see the waste of sacrificing the Now for some possible other events. O.k. Annika, I still book tickets etc. Yes, I love learning and there is always something new we meet. You ponder on, it is holiday after all.

  30. This is of course yet again a beautiful sentiment and thought conveyed by perfect word placement in a poem as light as air. But it is the Birch leaf landing on the table that grabs me. It is a scene that defines the poet, for only a Poet or artist would notice such a thing and afford the moment deep thought and so find meaning.

    response. To be called a poet and artist by you means a lot as I find your
    poetry consistently warm, wise and beautiful.

    As to the birch leaf, it didn’t occur to me that not everyone would give it a thought.😊 . It was the curled up one that landed, I picked up the other two
    to quickly get a photo for the poem.
