RING OUT

RING OUT

A Cymbal that never rings out
A violin that never sings,
Objects of beauty that lost their voice.

Birds on a branch in silence
People who never laugh
A world dying within.

May we see the light again
See it spread warmth and smiles,
The birds will sing
The music heal pain.

May we then all understand
That kindness and care fuel life and joy.

Kinship with All

Kinship with All

The Sun kissed my face this morning
as I stepped out on the lawn
lifting my head to the sky,

I raised the arms high in greeting and thanks.

Majestic Oak trees beyond the garden
brought stillness and serenity,
Singing their age old hymns,
Giving without asking for praise.

Still dressed in nightie, I decided
to say hello to each little plant,
Greet every newcomer and those from before.

How at ease nature Is.
Wonder if we could ?

The birds make me laugh as they fly
displaying exuberance and joy,
I wish there was space to introduce them all.
Swallows, Goldfinch, Sparrow, Blackbird,
Doves, not forgetting wobbly Pigeon.

The blessings they so freely give.
Music to make the heart soar.

I stand there for a while, fill my soul,
make sure I won’t forget as the day flows on,
Hoping I will learn this song.

Of belonging and kinship with all.

MUSIC IN ALL

MUSIC IN ALL

It is here again, live music pours forth
so shimmering and bright,
Making the air and us quiver
as each note streams and sings;

Creating a whole.

With strength and passion it enchants
my heart swells with joy.
Where and how did his music grow so,
reach heights, trying to express;

Feelings, events, beauty, sorrow and joy
won’t be contained, need to be told.
I can feel him ask the piano for more,
asking each string to give its all.

Give from strong emotions
carried within his young and strong heart.

He teaches me importance of striving our most
To express our heartaches, our love and joy.
To express life itself
knowing it can never be contained,

no more than the music of rain
falling on a lake or on leaves of a tree,
The symphony of storm on the sea
or the quiet sounds of your heart and breath.

Music surrounds us, heals us
At times wakes numbed minds

Today I walked …

moon-1544530__340

Today I walked …
I walked along the strand
Yes,
I walked along the Sea today,
it felt like home, I belonged.

Shingles and sand felt easy underfoot
the air a healing balm,
I felt tingling, alive and strong.

Came evening the moon cast
a street of silver on the sea,
Inviting to a dreamy walk;
Bedazzled I wanted to try.

Next morning the sun painted
an avenue of colours on the sea,
as not to be outdone;
Joyful I wanted to dance.

We love them both, the Moon and the Sun,
Moon with her mysterious faces and charms
enthralls us, draws us in.
The Sun switches on his light and heat;
Bestows life giving warmth.

Yet, without the Sea they would lose,
lose the power to provide life or to enthrall.

So I will stay by the Sea,
breathe its invigorating air;
Walk along the shores and often stop;
To admire the grandiose displays.

Feel the enigma of all three.

Hear music as the hymns from Cosmos
meets the songs from the oceans vast.

G U I D E

Music, the language that crosses all barriers.
What would we do without it? Some have to and
I hope they will hear it deep within.

One of my passions is music and I had Utube playing
yesterday. I saw and heard a new song come up by name
of GUIDE. I listened with delight to this quite new and
young composer and thought of how lately I have written
about guidance in different forms.

With this in mind I changed my usual post pattern and
decided to share the song with you with my words underneath.

Gently and sweetly they fall,
each note a glittering raindrop;
with joy they lead me forward
Then with great release rise and soar.

All the time with harmonies and rhythms,
incredibly enticing and with surety;
Yes, Guide is such a perfect word
I say to myself as the end is reached.

Leaving me wanting more

TIMELESS

are the Spheres’ whispers and music
the moon and the stars.
Among all noise and commotion,
the heavens just serenely are;

Spreading life giving light and warmth.

Timeless,
the word floated past this morn
tickled my spirit and tongue,
a delicious word
What does it mean to you or me?

I don’t doubt the timelessness
of oceans and seas,
Believe they will always hum and roar;
Their soothing, eternal and rhythmic song.

Whilst storing heat for our Earth.

The sky above, so exhilaratingly vast,
star studded at night.
I am sure it will always be
Timeless, beautiful, filled with mystery.

As to our beautiful, shimmering Earth,
how will it stand the test of time?
Our husbandry is awry and must improve
May we find harmony with the planet we love.

What about us humans, will our love, thoughts,
Creativity of all kind,
be a timeless force
forever drifting in the ether and inspire.

ILLUSORY

heart-1783918__340

This morning, dear friends, I will post you a poem about love.
Before doing so I was going for a walk and it came to me that
Love in all its forms must be the subject most written about.
The subject causing most pain and elation.

In every art form it has been written, painted, sculpted and sang about.
Listening to songs today by the very young I was struck by how
similar the lyrics are from those so long ago.
Lyrics about break-ups – not being able to survive them. About
the shining stars in each others eyes when love rises high and
you can all help me fill in the rest.

I do therefore surmise that love is the biggest force and may we tend
it with the care and respect it deserves.

ILLUSORY

Love between humans can be,
elations and emotions run high
Tainted by ownership; you are mine.
Bonds that tie the souls down,
To me you belong.

We give our hearts in trust,
To keep in tenderness,
in infinite care;
How then to avoid the trap, you are mine?
You cannot own her, nor she you.

Only unbound can you dance together
free as the wind,
Forever wanting to live
in each other’s hearts.
A nourishing, fulfilling love.

When we meet first time, a seismic force
inexplicably draw us together;
Your eyes meet and so do your hands,
as you dance, feeling
you always belonged.

Walking along lakes, canals, in parks
Feelings of belonging just grow.
Surety, calmness; we belong
Always did.

Resting in each other’s arms, listening;
realizing Mozart never did sound
powerful, ethereal like this.
Feelings of utter peace,
As if life and death are the same.

As long as we stay in each other’s hearts.

Sorrow and Strength

lotus-3047870__340

Sorrow and Strength

Grief is commensurate
to the depth and intensity
of love;
Part of your life is gone
future dreams an empty abyss.

Leaving you to face bottomless pain.

Is the deep trauma of so much love
worth the price of loss,
someone asked.
Yes. A resounding yes
rose from my cracking heart.

You will never live fully without.

In numbness, suffering, confusion
We do not yet know,
that through the pain, this purgatory;
New strength will germinate.
Will grow,

new course will unfold
new clarity of mind and soul.

Often I think of my mother,
thank her for teaching me love,
with kindness, laughter and song.

My father was my hero
until I let him be a man,
He often visits me from beyond.
I thank him for teaching me strength,

about the world we live in
about honouring each man.

My uncle who sang so serenely
of Swallows arriving in spring;
Lifting hearts to the heavens.
Like an angel he was and is.

So the unfathomable pains,
that seemed to crush the heart
Has turned to deep and rich wells,

that is with me each day.
My great love for those passed,
my grief;
Is now my smile and strength.

SECRETS

secret-3120483__340

I will not regale you long today as I feel the music
and hopefully the poem will speak for me.
I do so hope you will listen to the music, it has a
tremendous start with musicians playing on a hill in a
stunning location.

SECRETS

Will we leave this planet
with secrets untold,
Nuggets of beauty and grief
stories of joy, maybe rue;
I fear this is so, do you agree?

Tears felled for a year or more,
playing favourite songs each night;
Because he or she was gone,

or listening to magnificent symphony
Beethoven’s Fifth it was,
resting in a warm and firm embrace
feeling death was same as life;

Float in the ether in peace never felt.

Dancing tango down the Kings Street
singing in unison, not to loud he said
the friendly policeman on beat.
Feeling exhilaration and life’s flow;

The secrets of darker hue,
those who left deep scars,
will they forever be hidden;
Like atomic waste secured.

Maybe they better remain untold?
