MISTAKES
Why do we make mistakes
did the choices look right at the time,
did a voice whisper no, did we ignore?
Did something glitter that had us in awe ?
Was it easier to take a skip and a spin
than contemplate for a while.
Taking time now, sitting by a stream
under a Birch and Spruce,
I can see that mistakes can lead to wonders
to joys that shine and give blessings.
So I feel a peace descending ,
could some mistakes be the foundation
of the shine and fullness I feel now.
Maybe the weave I wove with so many colours
created a work of art, just so.
Yes, there would be so many colours
blues from the sky, ocean and lakes.
Colours from rocks, trees and fields.
Streaks of black from the night woven in.

I love your poem, Miriam!
Mistakes are the source of new discoveries, knowledge and improvements, if we are able to understand them, accept them and correct them

Your deep and thoughtful comment lights up my heart., dear Luisa.
It took me a long time to see that mistakes can be the source for positive events and learning as you say, we do need to understand first. 🤗

Love this introspective poem. That is how we know life, people and relationships Miriam. However hard we try or somebody protects us, mistakes are bound to happen. Yes, they are learning wonders! The voice within may whisper but who listens at that age of exploring more! 😀

Balroop, a warm thank you for your wise understanding comment. It is amazing that mistakes can be “learning wonders”. It would be good if it was only at young age but it isn’t
so. Wouldn’t you agree. 🙂

Thank you very much for this perspective. “Maybe the weave I wove with so many colours
created a work of art, just so.” A tapestry comes to mind. In the big picture, mistakes provide contrast as well as wisdom. My biggest mistakes give me compassion for the mistakes of others and appreciation for the better roads that led to much better outcomes. Thanks for clarifying this.

JoAnna, thank you so much for this beautiful and uplifting comment. I really am glad to hear that my words resonated so with you.
A tapestry was what came to my mind too. Maybe our lives are to some extent. I have often pondered what would have happened if I took the straight course early on and find…we never know what we will meet.
Love and courage are needed for this tapestry. :)x

I’ve never met a mistake, Miriam, that didn’t have something to teach me. I usually get in trouble when my mind says yes and my heart says no. Most can be easily dealt with and some do lead down wondrous paths. A few hang around to haunt, however. Thoughtful poem, as always. Thanks. –Curt

Thank you, Curt, for your wonderful comment, so full of clarity.
I do agree with you, we need the heart to lead in our decisions. I can see that and also the peace that would bring. Some can haunt but we can overcome that too. 😊

I’ve put most of the haunting behind me, Miriam. Living in the past (or future) isn’t something I normally do. Still, occasionally, the past catches me in the wee hours. 🙂

Hi Miriam, this is a lovely and thought provoking poem. We don’t really know what our mistakes are in life as we continue and work with what we have and our outcomes change. Often a mistake, changed, would have knock on effects that would sadden us greatly in the longer term.

Thank you , Robbie, for your kind and thoughtful comment.
Some mistakes we might not know but there are also those where you are torn between mind and intuition. Go ahead for what you are the common good. Meanwhile we live our lives which have so much to give. 🌻

This is a sweet process piece, Miriam. I like how you discovered redemption and what appeared to be flaws/mistakes. If nothing else, we humans need to learn we are far from perfect! 🙏😍

Thank you, Bela, for your lovely comment. I don’t think it easy to define Perfect in a human being. Possibly if all we do and say are filled with love and care. I have met some like that.
They might not agree though:):)

Haha, I like to say either none of us are perfect or we all are, just as we are. We are all works in progress! 😊🌹
