THE FEN

The Fen

My friends, I so wish you could hear
the sound of Dragonfly wings over the Fen,
the whispering of Butterflies as they nectar seek.
Would it be that you could share the humming silence
;
The wonder, the awe.

I spot a little sparrow on the ground, pecking in peace,
he also is part of the serenity that surrounds.
The stillness that whispers in the breeze
the tranquility of crickets, dragonflies, butterflies,
of us breathing quietly, not saying a thing.

I can feel the sun caress my skin, not burning,
gently makes me feel as if glowing.
Earth is giving up scents so heavenly,
the richness of which I cannot describe.
I wish you could smell it too.

The scent from earth, so generous
flooding our senses.

  1. This has nothing to do with anything, but your post reminded me of a sound design project I did years ago where the art director told me, “Right here I need the sound of butterfly wings on a ping pong ball.” I almost fell out of my chair. I’m not commenting on the scents from the earth because I have a large dog…

    • Thank you Phil, your comment gave me a good laugh. From sounds of
the Fens to sound projects for a film…..that shows how writing can trigger
many buttons in the brain and soul.
Out of curiosity, did you ever manage? To create the sound.

P.s. maybe you have to leave your dog with a minder so you can feel the scents.😊🦋.

    • His wonderful, Bela, to have such exotic birds as Hummingbirds near you.
I have only seen them on my travels. But all the songbirds here are beautiful too. It is a joy and blessing to have them near in your daily life.
Thank you for your lovely comment. ♥️🦋.

    • Thank you Michael, it is wonderful to hear my words awoke memories of nature that you have
experienced. I feel as if years and years of such clear experiences stay like huge albums. 🙂

  2. Another perfect piece! You remind me of Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter with your wonderful thoughts and love for nature 🙂 She’s an extremely beloved character, in case you don’t know.
