Miriam, what a delightful image you paint of your first snow! 😀 I’m picturing the boy so proudly walking along with huge snowball and unlike many I do actually enjoy scraping my car windows in winter! Now, the icy roads are another matter! 😀😀 Two beautiful haikus capturing the magic of the season! More please … and more snow too! Hugs xx

Annika, thank you very much for your delightful comment. This was a scene I saw from my kitchen
window and promptly jotted down. I wrote two haikus as to show the difference of the reaction
between adults and children.
Now, you liking scraping the car window just shows; we all feel different.
I also feel snow brings magic. Hug

What fun, Miriam. Especially the child with the large snowball. At 77, I can still get in a snowball fight. 🙂 Still, there are limits:

Curt, let me first say, I adore your Haiku, it really has me laughing.
A, more adults liking snow. You are fit, why shouldnt you enjoy. I get very competitive
in a snowball fight but building a snow house out of big snowballs is safe fun. And
cosy place for a hot drink.

Miriam, is this a memory of when your son was young? So much joy in this winter poem. A delight to read. It doesn’t snow in Southern California where I live, so I find poems about winter and snow much run to read.

Sharon, thank you for your heartfelt comment. The poems were triggered by a scene outside my window that actually made my memory flash back to my
son and his proud work in building snow man and me and my brothers building snow houses. Quick trip whilst making breakfast and watching neighbours. 😊.
I come from Sweden where winters are snow filled and bright. England also gets snow but normally not long lasting. South California sounds like a dream to sun hungry Northerners.

Snow often brings such joy, as you’ve described, especially when it first begins, or when we don’t get too much of it, as we don’t here.

You are so right, Andrea, it doesn’t often last long in England although there
are exceptions. Snow is exhilarating as it first falls but can easily turn to slush.
Still, our memories are of joy.
