H O P E

Hope sustains me
hope is life enhancing
hope is positive

It has carried mankind
through pain untold.

Giving us strength to see,
there must be good beyond.
Beyond cruelty, hate, sickness
both of body and mind.

Love, its natural partner
This life giving force,
Sure to be stronger than hate.
Love is Life itself.

Without, all will wither an die;
Like plants in a rainless land.

Lifting my face to the sun
I feel tears in my Heart,
tears of grief for pain untold,
Tears of joy of hope for a world at peace.

You are a dreamer I am often told.
Maybe that is true,
If so, I hope for many dreamers
among you, you and you …

  1. Thank you, Darlene, for your beautiful comment. I feel deeply touched that you feel I speak for us all. You are so right, that is my dream to do so.
We are all sharing a beautiful planet, we are all both unique and the same.
None more than the other, none less.

  2. I have a strong affinity with hope and I’ve written a lot of poetry about this four letter word – each letter exudes positivity if you can see. I am glad this word inspires you so much Miriam. Lovely thoughts. Hope may reside in the hearts of dreamers but it slowly permeates the universe, as nothing thrives without hope. Even happiness sits in the basket of hope. 🙂

    • Thank you warmly, Balroop for your comment. It seems we sing the same tune and it gives me joy every time the thought meets an answer within each.
The word has been with me since I was a girl, always one my parents would teach us.
We can have dreams and hopes for us, for mankind and still work with clear minds. One goal that slowly wins through.

  3. Miriam,
Wonderful poem that reflects HOPEFULLY most of the people of the world. If we lose hope and dreams we sink into despair. Unfortunately, it often takes a cataclysm to move the world in a better direction. I hope and pray the fury is turned into positive action. This part of your poem says it all:
    Love, its natural partner
    This life giving force,
Sure to be stronger than hate.
    Love is Life itself.

      • It’s a gorgeous day here Miriam under partly cloudy skies. We have had one of our best rains of the year, always a blessing in our now drought-prone area. Everything is fresh and green! And a good day to you, my friend. –Curt

  5. Miriam, from the wonderful and thoughtful comments you now know there are so many of us dreamers left … all with hope! The ability to feel, to care, to cry at joy and grief is a gift … may our hope never wither, rather garner strength as we face new challenging trials in our lives. Your first lines alone are a rallying call, giving us HOPE:

    “Hope sustains me
    hope is life enhancing
    hope is positive”

    Wishing you well, hugs ❤️🌺

  6. Annika, thank you, your words ring so beautifully. I am also very encouraged by so many ‘ dreamers’ sharing Hope, believing in its power.
As you say ‘ may our hope never wither, rather garner strength ‘. 💕.
