Hi to Fear
Fear is dark, fear diminishes
Our minds and souls entrapped.
Caught in the net of imagined disaster
We become disabled and stunned.
A confinement we don’t desire.
Say hi to your fears, acknowledge them,
Don’t let them kill who you are.
A child of universe, a star, creativity.
You are that and more.
Let us ask, what do we plant and create
on this Earth of blessings and strife?
May it be beauty, wisdom, love.
Let us make the gift of life count
not drown in non living – alive.

I take that as a compliment, Roland, thank you. I hadn’t thought of it, maybe
I am scared of the dark. 😊.

Thank you, Jenanita, for your kind comment. The world is quite understandably wrapped in fear now. Even in life without pandemic
we fear many events and things. It is easy to go under unless you
stand up to these fears.
I am hoping this will help someone look the fear in the face and know exactly what is there.

A wonderful reminder to push past our fear, Miriam. A favorite saying of mine is “Do it afraid.”

Thank you, Jill. It isn’t always easy to face some fears of more magnitude.
The alternative is living but yet not.
I have met situations were giving up seemed all I could do, but to face the fear and push past is like stepping out in the sun again.

Darlene, thank you for your kind comment. Each one of us and collectively around the world face a huge fear. Everyone has to deal with this and some won’t make it. May we learn to live better for the future. 🌳.

Miriam, this is just the poem I needed to read today! One of those mornings when it all becomes a bit too much … I love the idea of saying ‘Hi to Fear’, not letting it rule me, but instead living and feeling life to the full. A post that strikes a chord with many I imagine and your innate spirituality cannot help but shine forth.
Two lines are particularly vibrant and resonate with positivity:
“A child of universe, a star, creativity.
You are that and more.”
Thank you for the reminder! Wishing you well, my dear friend! xx ❤️🌺

Annika, thank you so much for your beautiful comment. I know what you mean that a morning or a day can seem to much. But you do it and I am sure you support others in the process.
I am so glad you liked the two lines quoted, I felt it important that we mremember that we can bring much beauty to this long period of difficulty
and fear.
You keep well my sweet friend. 💕🌻

A wonderful reminder Miriam. Fear is an innate emotion and we need to know it before trying to handle it. I believe that when we acknowledge our fears, we welcome them to mold us into strong human beings. My experience with fears has humbled me, emboldened me, ennobled me… they may linger around me but they know I can smile at them and say: Hi 🙂

Thank you, Balroop, for your thoughtful and lovely comment. Yes, you also
feel we need to know and face our fears – both big and small. Yet, our natural
instinct is to run. I do like your last sentence very much, will see what I find
they done to me. I do know I can say Hi there….. 🌸.

I’m so glad you wrote this, Miriam. Fear is disabling and accomplishes little. The older I get, the less I give into it.

A timely and wise poem, Miriam. It’s smart to acknowledge our fears, as long as we don’t give them the wheel to navigate. Let us live life to our fullest, offering the gifts we are blessed with, and reveling in the beauty of all that surrounds us. Thank you for this beautiful reminder and enjoy your weekend.

Lauren, thank you so much for your comment. Acknowledging our fears I found was the only way to be ‘the navigator’, it is to easy to lose the wheel.
I join you in your beautiful wish for our lives.
Stay safe

Hi Miriam, You remind me how “Fear” and “imagined” often go hand in hand. Also, I greatly appreciate being reminded how we are all children of the universe. I very much came to the realization recently that waiting, biding my time is a form of “non living.” My days immediately changed. I am still a work in progress, of course. Profound insights. A beautiful poem!

Thank you so much for your lovely comment, Kamal. It is natural to feel
unease and fright when faced with something frightening. However, if we
dare look at it we do know what to fight or know that it wasn’t so fearsome at all.

Thank you for this encouragement. When I say hi to my fears and talk to them like a loving and confident parent, they are often eased. I would love to remember this more often.

Thank you JoAnna, I love your comment. Talk to fear as if we were loving and confident parents. Notwithstanding a possibly ‘ squeaky ‘ voice if we can’t always find the confident one. 😊.

I agree that this is a poem for today, but for other times as well. There are always uncertainties, waiting in the dark. Last night I saw a light flash in the window and, always expecting mischief, I worried. and then I realized it was a lightning bug, flashing its message in the night.

Thank you Jane, for your lovely and true comment. Indeed, the poem isn’t
meant only for the fears today ( although they are plentiful). I find that
fears confront us all through our lives and the light and joy blesses us.
I do love your firefly bug instilling worry. A good example.
