Kinship with All

Kinship with All

The Sun kissed my face this morning
as I stepped out on the lawn
lifting my head to the sky,

I raised the arms high in greeting and thanks.

Majestic Oak trees beyond the garden
brought stillness and serenity,
Singing their age old hymns,
Giving without asking for praise.

Still dressed in nightie, I decided
to say hello to each little plant,
Greet every newcomer and those from before.

How at ease nature Is.
Wonder if we could ?

The birds make me laugh as they fly
displaying exuberance and joy,
I wish there was space to introduce them all.
Swallows, Goldfinch, Sparrow, Blackbird,
Doves, not forgetting wobbly Pigeon.

The blessings they so freely give.
Music to make the heart soar.

I stand there for a while, fill my soul,
make sure I won’t forget as the day flows on,
Hoping I will learn this song.

Of belonging and kinship with all.

  1. If only we could learn from Nature’s considerate lessons. Beautiful words, Miriam, and they tie into my recent blooms. Nature has a way of soothing and teaching. Enjoy your day.

  3. Early morning and evening are always prime times to enjoy nature, Miriam. And you have caught the morning part beautifully. Swallows have a nest above our garden, and it is a joy to watcher dance on the winds in the morning, catching bugs on the fly to bring home for their hungry chicks. –Curt

  4. Miriam, I feel you’ve already learnt the song and are sharing it with us here! 😀 A precious start to your mornings, the blessings of nature in abundance all ready for you to receive their gifts.

I had to smile at your ”wobbly Pigeon” … not only wobbly on the ground as I had to duck a low-fling one today as it barely missed my head!

Wishing you a lovely weekend, my dear friend! xx ❤️

    • Thank you for your wonderful and imaginative response, Annika.
Thank you for your trust in my song practice, don’t you think a daily – almost –
top up would be a treat. 😊.
So you also have “wobbly pigeon”, one of mine must have a damaged leg as he limps badly. I am glad you escaped the near miss by the low-flying duck.
I am also happy to be called your friend and feel equally so about you. May you and your family enjoy the week-end. ❤️🦋.

  5. Your poem encourages me to be more mindful when I go out my back door, to not just say, it’s a beautiful day and start pulling weeds or trimming bushes, but instead to take the time to immerse myself in nature’s gifts, appreciating each one.

    • Ah, Radhika, it is wonderful to have you along and especially as you
also feel the closeness between our soul and nature. It is indeed magical
and sets you up for the day. 🤗.

  6. Miriam, I can see you saying hello to each little plant. Makes me smile. And, yes, I get it. “Fill my soul.” I extra love the word and concept “Kinship.” Thank you for helping “fill my soul” this morning.💕

    • Ahh .., Erica, I can see you behaving just as ‘silly’ , thank you for your uplifting comment. If we fill our soul with beauty there is less space for darkness. I also love the word Kin and Kinship. They feel close and warm.
