THE PAINTBOX
I opened the curtains and saw
Heaven spilling out colours,
the whole paintbox seemed to flow
Painting the sky
with abundance and delight.
Have I got enough colours in my box,
Could I also have a go?
I feel intimidated by the artwork above
Still, what fun to try.
Let the brain take a backseat, be like a child
Let heart and fun flow through the hand.
Fail, no I can’t;
Colour will be there
and who is to judge.
A flock of swifts fly bypass and say,
No failures if you follow your heart,
Follow your instinct and dreams.
Banish false pride.

Radhika, thank you for this deep and beautiful response.
I wrote this as a ‘Tumbler’ as a fellow poet calls it when you just right and that
is it. I love when they come that way as I am on the journey too.
After all, who is to judge? 🤗.

You tumbled the words well Miriam. Maybe you’ll try with paint too? 🙂

Thanks Brad, for your lovely and positive comment.
Would you believe, I have a big paintbox too and really am inspired to start again. It is packed with so very tempting tubes of colours. 😊.

I love the spirit that flows through this poem Miriam… getting inspired from the colors of Mother Nature and weaving them into words in this exquisite manner accomplishes all that you wish. Beautifully done!

Thank you, Balroop, for your beautiful comment. Yes, nature does provide us
freely and generously with inspiration. As you might have gathered, this time it was a rather spectacular sunrise. I took some photos ( through the window)
but then just sat down and wrote this. A wonderful feeling but I laughed when I realised I had ticked myself off.
And been given a poem to boot.🤗 .

Indeed, whose colors have you been playing with today what good fortunes have they told you?…

Ahh …, Jeff, with colours of the sky and earth and their reflections.
It taught me that I am free to do so, to just be the best I can and that is
good enough.,😊

You have reinforced my goal as a painter, to let the brain take a back seat and be like a child. I have tended to try to be precise in my details, but my work usually turns out better when I let go and paint from the heart. Sure is more fun! Thanks for the reminder!

JoAnna, for this I am most grateful. You freed yourself from constriction.
You let go and follow the inspiration that will tell you what you really wanted
to say through your art.
Try to paint a cloud the perfect shape and next you look up it has changed its form and flow. So we need to catch the spirit of it.

As with all artwork, your poem is equally layered, the fun childish self of painting interwoven with the deeper spiritual side of being true to our inner beings! Miriam, your poem is filled with joy, uplifting to read and I love how you desire to paint like the sky, taking this even further within your poem! I’ll try and follow your advice to:
”Let the brain take a backseat, be like a child
Let heart and fun flow through the hand.”
hugs xx

Annika, your comment is wonderful and uplifting to me. I am so happy that
you could see the different layers being interwoven. The spiritual side seemed to take the lead but thinking about it, I also felt joy and a wish to
play with paint.
To hear the words filled you with joy just made the cup overflow. 🤗.
Thank you.

I think you painted this so well with words… sometimes I think that that is the paintbox with the most colors we will ever have.

Thank you so much Björn, your comment is kind and deep. To paint with words is indeed a blessing and has many shades. Listening to beautiful music last night I wondered if that had an even more direct entry to our inner self.
The music however also made me see colours and then verses were born in my mind. It connected with your comment so wanted to share.

Wonderful, Miriam! The beginning of the poem reminded me of some spectacular sunrises and sunsets. I try to remember the brilliance, but even a photograph doesn’t seem to do Nature’s artistry justice.

Julie, thank you for your warm and lovely comment. You are right, we can never outdo nature but we can create our own best impression of what
touched us. At least that is how I felt that morning …. and many other times.
You give it a go, please do.
