INVISIBLE GRACE
Sat in the sun this morning
among bushes, flowers and trees.
among birds, butterflies and bees
Some big, some small, all in harmony
As was I under favourite arbour
dressed in Honeysuckle and Clematis
Total stillness resided in my soul,
I felt perfect peace
Part of nature’s incredible gifts.
Sadly we humans often lose this inheritance
looking at imagined or real problems ahead,
fears that eat the soul which was born to just be
Part of the wonder of universe, of a garden, a song.
I see now that when I move, a new garden will be my goal
My first act of creation somewhere new,
make a haven for birds, flowers and trees
and for me
Somewhere were you can sit alone or with friends
thanking for the wonder that is.
And smile
As we refill ourselves with new vitality.

I am glad you liked the word ‘inheritance’ . Let us go out and create each
our own way, use what we got. Make life alive.

Miriam, I hope you have many more seats in your garden as you bring us all along! 😀 A poem of sheer beauty that conveys our inheritance of nature and our choice what we do with this gift. Enjoy creating a haven in your new garden, one for the wildlife and for you and your soul – may it be one that allows you to find ‘new vitality.’ ❤️

Lovely work. I’m also a big fan of your name. Just love the name Miriam. I read it in a book once and since then I haven’t come across a better name.

I am glad you enjoyed my writing, Arjun.
Thank you also for the compliment about my name. I used to find it hard
to carry as a girl but grew into it. In the country I was born it is quite rare.
In England there are more and on WordPress.:)

I read it first in a book titled “A thousand splendid suns”. Miriam has quite a journey in that book. Loved how it sounded in my head. If at some point in the future I have a daughter, I’m going to name her Miriam.

Thank you for this wonderful and sensitive comment. Yes, of course I have more seats, dotted about, even little tables for a drink and some tidbits.
So, a very warm welcome! I am glad you found your inheritance too as your posts often show your love for nature.
As to the new garden, yes I do look forward to it now.

Thank you for such a beautiful poem. Nature plays a large role in my life. Listening, watching, learning and simply being at peace are gifts in our gardens. You have captured the essence so aptly. I enjoyed the visit.

Marianne, I am grateful for your lovely comment which made me smile.
I know through reading your posts how fond you are of nature and your garden. They are gifts we shared with nature as we plant and weed and prune. All the while feeling the whisper and the bird song.
It was lovely having you over. 🌻💕

My pleasure. Probably a close second to reading these days is the role of music in our lives. We’re singing Dvorak’s Stabat Mater in Prague and practicing many hours. Enjoy your Sunday and week ahead. Lovely hearing from you. Mary Ann

Mary Ann, I am so impressed and excited for you. To sing this beautiful music in Prague is heavenly. As to first or second. Couldn’t music and literature share a first?

A lovely poem, Miriam. You are right that we often forget to enjoy nature’s bounty because we are to busy rushing around with things that are actually not that important.

Beautiful, Miriam. It has taken me almost five years to create the magical gardens we now live amidst. And I’m out there every day, connecting with the birds and the flowers and the clouds in the sky. I hope you get your garden soon! Aloha ❤

Thank you so much Bela for commenting and sharing. 5 years
can seem a long time but gardens always need attention and new
ideas … and tending.
I have spent a long time saying farewell to the current garden and hope I can create something with the same feel again. 🌻 💕

Same with me! I put six years into the last one so I know of what you speak. Still, time goes by. If we don’t plant, we don’t get the rewards of our labor. If we do plant, Time goes by and there is something wonderful created! Anyhow, best wishes no matter what you do! 🌺🙏😘

Wonderful Miriam, although the weather here in Ireland can be a little damp, the days that I manage to sit out in the garden are rejuvenating and apart from getting a Vitamin D hit, I just feel more at one with the world.

Sally, it is a joy to see you here and I thank you warmly for your beautiful
comment. A good dose of vitamin D whilst enjoying a garden is a good way
to be.
As to Ireland I am sure it can be very damp at times as it is an island. It can equally be a very sparkling and beautiful island … wouldn’t you agree. 🌼🍀

Your words will remind me to look around at the abundance of my wild garden next time I feel worried or fearful. Maybe our creator created things like flowers, butterflies, and sunlight in part to comfort and delight us.

Thank you for your warm comment JoAnna. It is indeed important never to take any of these living things for granted. To take time to ” great” them with
honour and love.
So may we all enjoy nature in its multitude of variations.

Beautiful, Miriam! Love the pics of the clematis. And this poem–LOVE it! There is nothing, in my opinion, better than sitting in a garden, or the woods, or especially near water, and just being. Absorbing the peace Nature provides.

Dear Julie, I just spotted your comment now and don’t know how I missed it.
I am so glad I found you and thank you for the wonderful response.
As you love the Clematis I have to tell you that I bought this plant because my mother had one covering part of a white garden wall. In this colour.
I will buy a new one when I move.
Nature anywhere provides a healing and peace, deeper than most can.
