LITTLE HOUSE
I dream of you, long for you
Need you;
Little house near the sea.
With passion I long to enter,
to open that door.
There might be cobwebs and spiders,
still, straight through the hall and room;
Floor to ceiling windows flood the house
with light from sun and sea.
I drop my bag, abandoned it lays,
quickly walk up to the light. My heart melts,
A smile grows and tears run.
I found you, found you
my whisper says,
we belong. I feel at peace and complete.
Having wandered long, seen much,
learnt, laughed and cried;
Now I need harmony and peace.
Dear Little House, I will make you glow
like you made me,
so out comes buckets and tools
I start working whilst singing along.
As all is finished and glows
air streams in through the door,
the door to the deck facing the sea.
Do I need to say more?
Pulling up a little table and chair
to the windows, that now
shine and gleam,
sipping coffee just brewed;
The van won’t be here in quite a while.
So, I greet my beloved sea gulls and terns.
Then to my surprise a Goldfinch lands
on the windowsill.
He is beautiful and I wish he would stay;
Although he loves bushes and trees.
Settling in this house I dreamt,
among birds and creatures of the sea,
I will not forget, my dear winged friends
in the dreamy garden where I lived.
How could I, they enriched my life.
Should you ever pass my way
please remember to come in,
there will always be a welcome for a friend.

Thanks for your positive comment Brad, why don’t you visit and then
look for your own. Dreams are funny things and often tell something
important.

Thank you Roland for your appreciative comment. It is said often but is
still true, it is frequently the small things that enriches life. Those who touch

Your house of dreams is divine Miriam! I love those windows that gleam but the yearning for bushes and trees define human nature in a subtle manner. Beautifully penned.

Balroop, thank you for your wonderful comment, it gladdens my heart.
I feel you should visit and have a cup of coffee by the window and some
soft talk.
I am delighted that you spotted the reference to trees, bushes and birds.
Isn’t it so that all living things create a whole. 🤗 .

It sounds like a beautiful house in a perfect setting Miriam. They say when we dream about a house we’re dreaming about our ‘self’ and the rooms are different parts of our psyche…

Thank you Andrea, your comment is kind and intriguing. If the rooms are different parts of the psyche … what does this light and sunny room mean? 😊.

To long for the comforts of our past and imagine entering that realm again. Sometimes youth is not lost but merely waiting to be reclaimed in memories. And if you have entered this house in reality, how much more fortunate. A lovely poem, Miriam, one that reminded me of childhood summers at the seashore.

Thank you for your lovely answer and I am glad my poem reminded you of
happy times.
The house is not my childhood home which still exists and is lived in. This one I don’t know where it is – not even which country. I think it is that longing for something that creates the image of simplicity and peace. Just guess work but possible.

Makes me happy, Miriam, just to read about it. Peggy and I would enjoy it just as much as you. It sounds so like our little home in the woods. –Curt

Curt, a warm thank you for your comment. I am sure Peggy and you have a little paradise in the woods so you can visit the sea other times. I have a holiday place in Sweden which is also in the forest but 20 minutes drive will
bring us to the sea. I love both the forests, the mountains and the sea.
Guess we could go on expressing all the beauty around.😊 .

This is such a sweet and soothing vision. I enjoyed all the details very much. My little house, about 20 minutes from the sea, is almost done being renovated after almost 7 months. Sometimes I have felt my house was too small, but I miss it and the birds and tress. Your poem/dream/vision feeds that part of me that loves my little house and encourages me to create more simplicity (de-cluttering) and peace with more music and soothing images. I think that no matter where we are we can bring elements of simplicity and peace into our space. I have a feeling that some part of your dream will become reality.

one day become reality felt almost prophetic to me and I thank you for this trust.
You talk about filling your house with music and soothing images. Sounds so perfect to me. Don’t forget light and air. 🤗 .
