Never forget Love

Never forget Love

Watching a craftsman one day
I was taken with his calm and skill,
how every sanding, sawing and nail
just seemed to flow from his hands;

Making me wonder about intelligence.

Often those with high degrees and titles
are set above the artisans and their crafts;
Above the unity of heart and action
whilst humming a tune

or working in silence, serene.

Intelligence comes in many forms
But Love only in one,
without which, all created becomes dust;
Knowledge without real life.

Passion and harmony give life to all you do,
to the surgeon’s knife, to the baker’s hands,
To the painter’s brush, to the welder’s torch;
Never forget Love.

Healing where intellect still debates,
Creating whilst scholars frown.

At best, live in harmony with both.

  1. Miriam, beautiful observations of the world of craft and the love, passion and harmony of your poetry shows the truth of your reflections! ❤️ The stillness as we see these crafts people at work through your eyes is both immediate and intimate … and I’m moved how you thoughts turn to the higher plane of the harmony of art and intellect. Yes, here’s to never forgetting the love! Xx

    • Dear Annika, thank you for your wonderful and complimentary comment.
      It spreads warmth in my heart. My reflections come from observations around, almost daily. I am sure you seen by now how I seem to drift into the
      ‘ philosophical’ mode. 🤔. I am so happy to join you in the cheer for love.
      In all we do. ❤️.

  2. My husband does not have a college degree, but he’s the smartest man I know. He looks forward to retirement and crafting things from wood. In a culture that seems to value certain kinds of intelligence, thank you for helping us remember that love most important.

    • Bless you JoAnna, how wonderful it is to be able to say this about your husband. You are both special. From my poem you know how I see each one
      of equal importance. The main thing is that we perform what we chosen with love and passion. Bet you will have a wonderful retirement. 🤗.

    • Julie, a warm thank you for these kind words.
      You are right about watching artists of all kind work and peacefully trusting
      their abilities.
      I am having a good time celebrating and the best of all is and has been the
      Angel of joy and love walking among us.
      I hope you are having a good time too. 💕🤗 .

  4. A warm thank you Radhika for your beautiful comment, what a gift on the first morning of a New Year ….new morning, …. sunny morning.
    I find the word ‘quill’ quite evocative. From times when people had time to sharpen a wing pen, dip into an ink pot and write very neatly. Time for thoughts.
    I will sharpen mine and you sharpen yours and we wait to see what comes forth. 😊 .

      May we all bravely shine new light this year.

    Love and intelligence together are a mighty force. You then give yourselves
    credibility. I truly believe what I wrote. 🎶🌻
