TIMELESS

are the Spheres’ whispers and music
the moon and the stars.
Among all noise and commotion,
the heavens just serenely are;

Spreading life giving light and warmth.

Timeless,
the word floated past this morn
tickled my spirit and tongue,
a delicious word
What does it mean to you or me?

I don’t doubt the timelessness
of oceans and seas,
Believe they will always hum and roar;
Their soothing, eternal and rhythmic song.

Whilst storing heat for our Earth.

The sky above, so exhilaratingly vast,
star studded at night.
I am sure it will always be
Timeless, beautiful, filled with mystery.

As to our beautiful, shimmering Earth,
how will it stand the test of time?
Our husbandry is awry and must improve
May we find harmony with the planet we love.

What about us humans, will our love, thoughts,
Creativity of all kind,
be a timeless force
forever drifting in the ether and inspire.

  10. I think you have captured the sense of time perfectly Miriam. As far as we humans are concerned space and this Earth are indeed timeless. We as individuals have a limited time on this Earth which we should put to good use. This includes taking time to admire what is around us and also trying to protect the environment which enables us to survive. Whatever happens though we as a species have a limited time and the Universe will continue on. Timeless.

    Although our physical time on this Earth without a doubt is limited I do wonder what happens with all we create from our inner invisible self.

  16. Such an inspiring poem, Miriam. I look up at the sky throughout the day, in awe that no matter what goes on here on Earth, the vast movements of what happens in the cosmos are unaffected. We are really small and do well to seek guidance from what is bigger and far older. Perhaps wiser or maybe just more enduring.

  17. A lovely poem that makes me want to go out and sit still under God’s vaulted ceiling… a canopy of stars and planets for our wonder as the moon rises in the night sky. and it’s all timeless, my new favorite word..

  19. This is comforting – to know the the sea and stars are constant in their gifts of rhythm and light. The earth cycles of day, night, and seasons that have continued for all these years give me hope that this planet will somehow continue. Your ending question brings up beautiful possibilities like ripples spreading through the universe throughout time…. beyond time. Timeless. Beautiful poem and pictures.

      I smile as I also felt comfort as the poem was unveiling itself. The stillness and grandeur of the universe of which we are part. Yes, there is hope for the planet ! I love the way you see ripples through the universe that are our toughts and creations. Isn’t that grand?

      • You’re welcome, Miriam. We have a lot of smog here, not too much healthy wind, Santa Ana wind is hot and cause forest fire. I can see clear sky when I go north (1,000 miles) to visit my daughter’s family.

  29. My favourite poem has always been ‘Desiderata’- ” you are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars”. I was reminded of this when I read your wonderful poem. So many images it conjures in the mind.
