CANDYFLOSS LIGHT

Candy floss Light

The powerful display by masters
by setting sun over snow and dark wood,
In shadows, on light drenched ground
How can one wish for more;

In silent awe I sit with a friend
we whisper quietly our awe,
To talk loud seems a sacrilege,
in this Temple not built by man.

For a while the snow had taken
hues of bright white with diamonds aglow.
With light blue shades
and deeper blues, like a fathomless lake,
shadows the mighty forest threw;

As sun sets further, colours of candy floss,
soft pink coloured the snow,
Lit it as from within, such eerie light,
against black-green  forest behind;

The sun sank into the sea,
Light still glowed
As now the full moon lit the scene,
even she was pink.

    • Thank you Jim and would you believe, the rain came for two days then hot sun and nature started bursting with life. Well, leaves so far.😊 . It will come to Minnesota too, have no fear.
      There is beauty in all…especially when the sun highlights.

    • Thank you Christy. Yes, I couldn’t resist sending the photo of bulbs I had planted and left in the shed. Took them in and they burst out. A reminder as you say of things soon to be here.

  1. I like the title…it conjures images…nostalgia bursts forth like those buds waiting for spring! Mother Nature charms in all her moods and inspires such gems! Lovely thoughts Miriam…good idea to whisper when the scenario is so serene! 🙂

    • Thank you Balroop, I am glad you felt the title. It came to me like that and I thought…hmm.. this sounds a bit like a fairground. Yes, I don’t think we ever tire of watching nature in all its faces.
      To whisper at this time when light is there and yet not there, a quiet darkness tiptoeing in.
      My mother used to call it ” the quiet darkness ” ( tystmörkret ) and we used to sit around talking quietly.

  2. Janice, thank you for your lovely comment. Precious moments just are and sometimes we get time to catch them on paper or in paint.
    I know what you mean about the flowers talking about spring. Would you believe, the land is totally snow free now….and green! With carpets of fallen leaves on. 😊 . Keep fit training.

  3. Thank you for your wonderful answer, I am so glad it pleased you. As camera I only had the iPad at hand so I was lucky.
    Would you believe , this morning the same views are totally green in all hues and bushes full of buds. Birds are singing, feeding and just teaching me the joys of being alive.

  4. Julie, thank you so much for your beautiful comment. Imagery come effortlessly if we just look. Not glance but in stillness look. Then again, you know as you are well experienced.
    Would you know, winter went away! Just like that. Two days and nights of rain, then sun. Under the white blanket was green grass. Amazing and explosive arrival of spring. 🌼🌷

    • Thank you Annika for your beautiful response. I am so proud to hear you talk as if you were there. This place is magic to me and visitors feel the hush too.
      I have actually written a poem about it called ” My Temple”.
      It makes me happy that peace settled on you, let it stay please.

      Now, shall I admit that I took the pictures with my iPad 🙂 as it was the only way to get them on this post. 🤗🦋

  7. Thank you Nigel for your lovely comment. It is always a wonder how light creates so much beauty but without – in this case the snow – it wouldn’t have a canvas. It occurs to me that it is the same with love.

    Nigel, it is lovely to see you back, can’t wait for your next post.
    Miriam…….packed and ready to fly back to England

  8. Thank you Shiva for you kind appreciation. I am also so glad to show you snow in this pristine state. It is far to go for you. 😊 . I will have to send more pictures…..
    This is the retreat I got in Sweden just because it spoke to me. It is so utterly peaceful. Be it winter or summer, spring or autumn it does the same to me.
    Just slows life down to a tempo which gives the subconscious space.

  9. To describe the pale pink of snow as candy floss – lovely image. Some parts of winter are indeed delicate and we must whisper. And those little daffodils waiting at the window – reminds me of being a kid, looking at the new snow, waiting to go out and play.

  10. Thank you Sharon, your comment honour my attempt to convey the magic.
    Have you noticed how quiet everything gets when the snow has blanketed the ground and the trees. Not even a whisper from grasses or leaves.
    Serenity it is.
    So we whispered too.🤗
