SECRETS

secret-3120483__340

I will not regale you long today as I feel the music
and hopefully the poem will speak for me.
I do so hope you will listen to the music, it has a
tremendous start with musicians playing on a hill in a
stunning location.

SECRETS

Will we leave this planet
with secrets untold,
Nuggets of beauty and grief
stories of joy, maybe rue;
I fear this is so, do you agree?

Tears felled for a year or more,
playing favourite songs each night;
Because he or she was gone,

or listening to magnificent symphony
Beethoven’s Fifth it was,
resting in a warm and firm embrace
feeling death was same as life;

Float in the ether in peace never felt.

Dancing tango down the Kings Street
singing in unison, not to loud he said
the friendly policeman on beat.
Feeling exhilaration and life’s flow;

The secrets of darker hue,
those who left deep scars,
will they forever be hidden;
Like atomic waste secured.

Maybe they better remain untold?

  1. Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful ! The music so complements your words Miriam. And what words, what sentiment.
    I like to think despite the apparent doom and gloom of a present age, a brief look at history confirms we are evolving in a positive way. I believe this is for the reasons in your poem, we leave a little bit of ourselves behind in whatever we touch, say and feel. The more people that leave little bit of good behind the better the world will be.
    Thank you Miriam.

    • Wow is my first reaction Nigel and then a joyful tear from this wonderful comment of yours. I felt guided when this music came up at first search, couldn’t either believe how perfect it was. I have myself listened again this morning.
      The rest of your comment is so strong and true that I will leave it to stand out without my comments except…Thank you” 💕🦋

  2. Miriam, what a gem of a post. The video and music is magnificent…I feel my soul soar listening to it this grey Saturday morning. Whilst letting the music flow over me I submerged myself into your poem. Sublime…this is stunning!! It’s a kaleidoscope of emotions and events, a rush of life, of secrets held tight…how all our lives are thus, to remain untold, alive within ourselves. Powerful and wondrous post.

  3. Annika, thank you for these precious words and I couldn’t agree more about the music.
    Like Nigel’s, your comment is so strong, a poem in itself. Yes, many secrets will die with us and I was thinking of my great grandfather, my grandparents and parents. I want to tell some stories but realised how little I knew of their deep down feelings. They will remain untold but the good they gave will live.

  4. In terms of the totality of nature, we leave such a small, seemingly insignificant part of ourselves behind when we move on. The secrets we leave behind us are ours and ours alone – for good or ill. Your important and thoughtful poem, Miriam, prompts me to give greater consideration to my legacy. The accompanying music fits this induced contemplative mood perfectly.

    • You are so right Roland and in your comment you give so much wisdom and depth. I am glad you agree that the secrets we choose to keep are ours, ours alone. In terms of totality we might be insignificant but what we give of ourselves isn’t. Every kind and thoughtful gesture.
      I am glad this strong music stilled things around and encouraged contemplatation.
      Thank you Roland

  5. Rosaliene, I am so glad the music lifted you. It is music worthy of our attention as it seems to reach every space within us.
    May our laughter outspace our tears.

  6. Thank you Julie, How lucky I was when this magnificent music by Beethoven came up on my first search for music/ songs that covered Secrets. I have heard this version before and felt blessed when I saw the cover.
    Glad you liked the poem too.

  7. Beautiful music to accompany your equally beautiful poem. Miriam, I must say that I look forward to your posts. They always lift my spirits and inspire emotions and thoughts in some way. This one is no different. I think we leave a part of ourselves in everything we do, hopefully it’s something good, and for most people I believe it is.

    • Thank you for your warm and positive comment, I feel lifted by it.
      It is a great honour youi do me by saying you look forward to my posts.
      Then again, how can I go wrong with such grand music.
      I agree with you, we leave something of ourselves in all we do and I also like to take the positive stance and believe that for most of us it is something good. 🦋💕

  8. What a soulful music you have linked to your beautiful and philosophical poem Miriam! It goes straight to my heart, tugging at the softest chords just like your words.
    Some secrets have to remain buried because they are ours
    We do share them but only with the stars
    The tears that guarded them were as precious as flowers
    Soothing like balm on festering scars.
    Thanks for making my heart sing with this lovely music! Stay blessed.

    • Thank you Balroop, I am so happy my post touched your heart so. How could the music not though, grand and heartfelt composition like this carries heaven and earth. That you like my poem too gladdens me and I love the way you say that some secrets only get shared with the stars…

      You stay blessed to Balroop 🦋💕

  9. My daughter-in-law’s mother is dying today. She leaves behind nuggets of beauty and stories of joy and many family and friends who will miss her greatly. She bore the pain of her illness with stoic quiet and celebrated happiness as much as she could.
    Thanks, Miriam, for your poem.

    • Dear Sharon, I am honoured that you could take in my poem and the music on such a difficult day. Saying good-bye to someone you love and honour is never going to be easy whatever ones beliefs are.
      It is heartbreaking and maybe even more so when you lose someone who celebrated happiness in their life.
      Bless

  10. Thank you JC for your kind compliment. The music is indeed one of the great and I love the way the video brings it out.
    The photo is to illustrate secret places and that tunnel looks a good one.
    One could indeed get lost both physically and metaphorically.

  11. Yes, it is hard to compare to so many masters that were at that era. Luckily beautiful music is still being created but some will always stand out.
    We have to do our best with words although it might be a quieter symphony.😊 .

  12. Thank your Miriam for your kind comment. Yes, there are thoughts over a long period that suddenly come forth – almost like a stream of consciousness.
    After that the brain has to do some work in editing and losing a lot of what would be a too long poem…and unformed.

    Music, how I agree, it is universal. From the fascinating music of tribal countries to our great classics and still today there are many nuggets of beauty being created. Yes, thank heavens for music.

      I am so glad you felt inspired by both music and words. As to share, that
      is the good part. To get the share reaching some people’s heart is the
      greatest reward. ❤️
