BUBBLES RISING

BUBBLES RISING

Laughter and stillness,
a powerful blend
creating song in harmony,

expanding our deeper Self
Pure cymbals in hallowed room.

May we guard these gifts
keep them bright and true,
Free from discord and pretense;

Laughter ascends from the soul
stillness the pure mountain pool,
Where bubbles can rise

Transparent and true.

  1. Oooh Miriam! You are giving the true and special meaning to Laughter and Laugh.
I am amazed to read this ; how words can blend the essence of anything for that matter. You have reflected it perfectly in your lines.

    • Shiva, it means a lot to me that you felt and understood what I am trying to say.
Your comment astounded me with such deep perception. Seeing the Pats the bubbles rose again. Thank you.

      • I would still love to write about it…..
Miriam the title could even be “Laughter Bubbles Rising” for the reader to catch it suddenly; what you want to say.

  2. What a delight Miriam, to wake up and have your poem as my first read .I know I’m stating the obvious, but your Island must be full of the magic you’ve just written about. Reading and gently peeling away meaning to access ever deeper strata, I envisage a place where most people think like you and there is a collective subconscious/essence/magic that permeates all. This sublime and erudite poem proves my
belief that in the west we have spiritual traditions and beliefs as important and refined as those in the east. Pure Scandinavian Zen ! Thank you

  3. Pure Scandinavian Zen. I love it Nigel and you are quite magic.
Yes your comment is such a beautiful homage to the island and its people.
You are right about the majority had this spirit and my parents definitely did. Come to think of it, there were a number of story tellers there both among the men and the women.
Of course the West has their spiritual traditions. We should do more to preserve it and let it live among us.
    Thank you from my heart

  4. The image of ‘transparent and true laughter’ is superbly envisioned here…love it Miriam!
We often play with bubbles, run after them to catch and laughter accompanies us each time we miss…that is the fun of playing and reliving your childhood with grandchildren and β€œexpanding our deeper self”… Laughter is a natural gift till we compartmentalize it and convert it into smiles of choice…the compulsions of modern, so called sophisticated living! πŸ™‚

  5. Balroop, thank you for your happy and beautiful answer.
Like you I still love blowing bubbles and sometimes trying to slowly and carefully blow a big one, watch it slowly rise, shimmering in all colours.
    Just like our laughter.
This very sophisticated living is hard😊 , I can do it but isn’t it nice when you can let go and just be. πŸ€—

      • Once I was in a real bad mental place, bought some bubbles then a coffee at Startbucks, sat at their terrasse and blew bubbles at passers by! Had lovely conversations and made people laugh!

  6. Air and water; life’s essentials. Laughter is joy escaping the body in the form of air, and bubbles are air encased in water. The essentials of life being recycled, and beautifully. Lovely post, Miriam, and entrancing pictures.

    • Thank you Peter for your delightful and scientific way of describing the
bubbles. How true about air and water, essential they are.
I am also so glad you liked the poem and images.

  7. A beautiful poem Miriam and it brought to mind the bubble blowers who work along the South Bank in London. Whenever you walk past them there is always a crowd of children (and adults) chasing and being transfixed by the huge bubbles they create. It always fills you with a bit of happiness watching the joy on everyone’s faces.

    • Thank you for your wonderful answer Davy. I am enthralled by your tale about the bubble blowers on the South Bank of London. Do you know if they still are there? I would love to see this and feel the joy along with the others.
Your compliment also makes me proud. πŸ˜‰

      • The best time to catch them is in the Summer Miriam. There is always at least one among the many other entertainers there. Your poem prompted me to get down again. There must be some poetry there πŸ™‚

      • Thank you, I have penned in June in my diary and will bring some bubble liquid with me. What fun that could be and a first anywhere in London.
Yes, you are right about the poetry.

  8. Miriam, I feel bubbles of laughter rising within me as I read your beautiful post…the sheer joy and exuberance are infectious and once again you blend the physical with the spiritual, as they merge into one. A gem of a post and the photos are an enchanting delight on which to rest my gaze. hugs xx

    • Carolyn, your comment is amazing, “capture the essence of life”. If
it felt so to you I am one happy scribbler. There are times when we feel we
might have lost these pure bubbles of laughter but they will be there.
      🎈🎢 hugs back to you.

  9. Thank you Annika for your wonderful answer. Your exuberant and positive self rises like bubbles of joy. I reread my poem now and you are right about the physical and spiritual. To be honest I don’t know where the first stanza arrived from…, it can be rather magic at times. πŸ¦‹πŸ’•

  10. Thank you Julie for your fantastic comment. Yes, little laughter bubbles rise
from a calm pool – seeing the birds feeding outside, how could they not do.
If there isn’t a rhythm in my verses I reject them, keep the idea if good and
do a total rewrite later. Or scrap it.
Poetry and music are quite related I feel. β€οΈπŸ¦‹

  11. What a delightful way to start my day – it is the first post I am reading this cool, blue morning! I love the juxtapositions you have used, and the tension they create to send the bubbles rising up! And I love your bubble photo as well – the colours you have captured are so cheerful!
